Finally manage to pull this off without pouring more of my precious power pieces. And I’m not going to test my luck for Deuce’s CP35 after rolling Ace’s EX out the sheer of luck. I’m not doing this again OTL
And about that damned squid couple of a boss. They are fast and strong and spam HP Attack like crazy. Though they have an attack pattern you can observe. There are generally 3 way to kill it.
1. Outrun it. It can be with speed up buff/passive like Deuce or Penelo, knock back mechanics like Setzer and Layle, super high turn rate like Wakka, or Rem’s Turn Convert. Layle has extra point since he also can launch for some free actions. Beware that you will need Rem’s EX to actually use her here.
2. Tank up. The boss have some nasty BRV Attacks so tanks would help a lot. Fortunately squid’s attack are mostly magic attack so Celes would be perfect for the job. Beware that the target lock debuff might wear really soon since squid has a very high skill, but with a lot of AoE Attack Celes will actually racking a lot of free BRV.
3. Pure power game. Just let the boss attack all it want and break it back which is what I did here. Just get some decent Magic attacker to do the job. Beside Ace and Papalymo, Aerith and Vaan are also up for the job if you have Aerith’s CP35 or Vaan’s EX.Extra point for Aerith since she also heals and could provide a damn lot of BRV without skill. Note that if you don’t have Ace’s EX weapon, don’t bother bringing him here. Beware that doing this would mean running out of your skill very very soon. And once you’re out of ammo, it’s a certain death.
Honestly, 1st one is the easiest if you got Rem’s EX which I don’t have. I’m stuck to third option only because doing the other would require me burning up my resources just for this one event when there will be another event in like… 3 days. Hopefully it’s not as damned as this. 🙁
